Barbashela BBQ & Music Festival

Barbashela is the Choctaw word for "friend".

Captain Tom Leathers, a friend of the Davis family, gifted Winnie Davis with her own skiff, which she used to go out in the Mississippi Sound in. She named her skiff "Barbashela" and it remained here at Beauvoir as a precious artifact.  It was nearly destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, but pieces of it were salvaged and a group of generous people restored it and brought the Barbashela back home.  She is on display in our museum.

We have adopted the name "Barbashela" in the spirit of friendship and fun - we hope to see y'all there!
